Claim this gymHeadkicks Martial Arts & Fitness has been part of the Lafayette martial arts scene since 2016, founded and led by Coach Aaron. A lifelong resident of Lafayette, Coach Aaron started his martial arts journey at age seven, earning a black belt in Taekwondo before moving into wrestling, judo, boxing, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. His competitive experience includes amateur MMA, jiu-jitsu tournaments, and professional Muay Thai bouts in Thailand, as well as international travel for training and competition. Alongside his wife Charity, Coach Aaron opened Headkicks to share his passion and experience with students of all ages. The academy runs a full slate of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes throughout the week, with a clear structure for both gi and no-gi training. Adult students can build their fundamentals in JiuJitsu 101 (gi), progress to JiuJitsu 201 (gi and no-gi), and attend open rolls and open mat sessions. A dedicated Foundations class focuses on self-defense applications, reflecting the academy’s practical approach to martial arts. Headkicks encourages cross-training, with adult Muay Thai and MMA grappling classes available, and drop-ins are welcome for many sessions. Youth programs are a major part of the schedule, with jiu-jitsu and kickboxing classes divided by age groups starting as young as four years old. There are combined classes for kids and teens, as well as elite training opportunities for older youth interested in more advanced work. The school also offers homeschool martial arts, fitness kickboxing, and seasonal programs like summer camps, making it a busy hub for families looking for structured martial arts education in Lafayette.
