Guardian BJJ

Morning and evening classes are a regular part of life at Guardian BJJ, where the mats see steady use by both adult and youth students throughout the week. Founded in 2019 by Kevin Irwin and Andy Hagans, the academy operates out of a 3,700 square foot space in Holland, Michigan, outfitted with premium Zebra mats and plenty of room for growing classes. Guardian’s Jiu-Jitsu program is affiliated under Misho Ceko of Chicago MMA, and the coaching team brings over 60 years of combined experience in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and kickboxing. Guardian’s class structure reflects its commitment to accessible, structured learning for every stage. Beginners can start with dedicated fundamental gi classes, while adults have access to both traditional gi and no-gi sessions. Women’s gi classes are offered weekly, and kids’ Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu runs on a schedule designed for ages six and up. The weekly calendar also includes open mats—some open to all, others reserved for members—as well as adult kickboxing and open sparring. The academy’s approach emphasizes safety and a positive training environment, with the goal of helping students succeed both on and off the mats. With its mix of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, kickboxing, and women’s martial arts, Guardian offers a range of options not found elsewhere in the greater Holland area.
