Claim this gymGrand Forks BJJ Academy is led by Professor Preston Fish, a black belt under George Andersch of Fargo BJJ and the Amal Easton lineage, which traces back to Renzo Gracie. Professor Fish brings years of experience in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu as well as a background in various combat sports. After moving to Grand Forks to lead the academy full time, he oversees both the adult and kids programs and also teaches kickboxing. The academy continues the training approach established by Fargo BJJ since 2008, emphasizing solid fundamentals, practical self-defense, and competitive sport jiu-jitsu. Students at Grand Forks BJJ train primarily in gi classes separated into fundamentals and advanced levels for adults. The kids’ program is divided by age groups, with classes for children under eight and for those nine and older. These classes focus on teaching positional control and technique in a way that fits each age group’s needs. The academy also offers no-gi open mat sessions for adults, providing additional training time for those who want to work on their skills outside of formal classes. Kickboxing classes led by Professor Fish complement the grappling curriculum with striking and conditioning work. The academy operates Monday through Friday with classes at noon and in the evenings, and noon classes on Saturdays. Sundays are reserved for rest. Located at 2750 Gateway Drive East, Grand Forks BJJ Academy aims to foster a community of disciplined training and personal growth grounded in the tradition of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. The emphasis is on steady progress through structured classes and open mat time, helping students build confidence and competence over time.
