Gracie Jiu Jitsu Las Vegas was founded by Professor Amilcar “Mica” Cipili, a 6th degree black belt with deep roots in the Gracie lineage. Mica moved from Brazil to Las Vegas in 2000, determined to bring authentic Gracie Jiu-Jitsu to Nevada. As a longtime student of Pedro Sauer, Rickson Gracie, and Royler Gracie, he established the first official Gracie academy in Las Vegas and has spent over two decades teaching the original Gracie methods and philosophy to thousands of students. Mica’s competitive record spans major tournaments in both Brazil and the United States, and he continues to compete, teach, and lead the academy with the same dedication that defined his early years on the mat. Classes at Gracie Las Vegas are structured around the traditional Gracie approach, with gi-based instruction at the core. Adult students work through fundamentals, all-levels, and advanced classes, while kids’ programs are divided by age groups to ensure age-appropriate learning. No-gi classes are also offered for both adults and children, focusing on submission grappling, takedowns, and positional work. The academy has a competition team for those interested in testing their skills, as well as private training options for students seeking individualized instruction. The academy welcomes students of all backgrounds and provides a wheelchair-accessible facility. With a curriculum shaped by Mica’s experience and his connection to the Gracie family, the school remains committed to preserving the art’s original values and techniques.
