Gracie Barra Greensboro - Brazilian Jiu Jitsu & Self Defense is built on the structured Gracie Barra curriculum, guiding students from their very first class through advanced skill development. The academy follows a step-by-step progression: the GB1 Fundamentals program introduces adults and teens to the core building blocks of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, while GB2 offers next-level training with advanced drills and techniques. For younger students, the GBK program serves children ages 3 to 15, emphasizing not just self-defense, but also discipline, respect, and teamwork through age-appropriate instruction. Dedicated women’s classes (GBF) provide a focused space for developing both technical and self-defense skills. The school is led by Professor Lucas Nabuco, a 2nd degree black belt from Brasília, Brazil, who began training in 2009 under Professor Lúcio Curado and received his black belt from Professor Rodrigo Gomes. Before relocating to North Carolina, Professor Lucas spent four years as Head Professor at Gracie Barra Fort Collins, where he helped establish the academy and is known for his patient, methodical teaching style. Program Director and Coach Jessica Affolter, a purple belt and accomplished competitor, supports the school’s mission to help students grow both on and off the mats. Gracie Barra Greensboro offers both gi and no-gi classes for adults and teens, with a schedule that includes early morning, midday, and evening training options. The academy welcomes visitors and drop-ins, and its facility is wheelchair accessible. Students train in a family-oriented environment shaped by Gracie Barra’s long-standing values and curriculum, serving Greensboro as well as neighboring communities like Summerfield, Oak Ridge, and High Point.
