Golden State BJJ in Torrance is run by Professors Dane Molina and Mike Farrell, both black belts with deep roots in the local area. Dane has over a decade of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu experience, earning his black belt in 2014, and has competed at a high level, including appearances at the Eddie Bravo Invitational and several major tournament wins. Mike received his black belt in 2017 and brings more than 15 years of experience working with kids in Torrance, first as a youth sports coach and now as a dedicated BJJ instructor. Both instructors take pride in teaching where they grew up, focusing on technical instruction and personal growth for every student. The academy offers a full slate of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes for adults and kids. Adult students can train in both gi and no-gi formats, with all-levels classes available throughout the week. The kids program is a major focus, with classes divided by age group: Little Grapplers (5–7 years), Junior Grapplers (8–13 years), and a general Kids BJJ class for all ages. Mike’s background with youth coaching shows in his approach, making the classes both structured and engaging for young students. Golden State BJJ welcomes drop-ins and has made accessibility a priority, with a wheelchair-accessible facility. The school’s programs are built around detailed instruction, discipline, and a commitment to helping students of all ages develop both on and off the mats. For Dane and Mike, teaching Jiu-Jitsu is as much about supporting the Torrance community as it is about martial arts.
