Fabio Clemente StudioX BJJ has been part of the New York Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu landscape since 1995, when Professor Fabio Clemente opened the academy in the East Village. Clemente is widely recognized as a pioneer of BJJ on the East Coast, with deep ties to the sport’s roots in Brazil and a legacy that includes three Pan American titles. Over nearly three decades, StudioX has grown into a training ground for serious competitors and dedicated hobbyists alike, guided by Clemente and a team of accomplished instructors such as Pedro Fernandes, a 2022 IBJJF Master’s World Champion, and Vedha Toscano, the 2019 IBJJF No-Gi World Champion. Classes at StudioX run daily and are structured to serve both new students and experienced grapplers. The schedule features fundamentals and all-levels classes in both gi and no-gi formats, with open drilling and open mat sessions providing extra time for practice and sparring. Kids’ programs are also available in both gi and no-gi, reflecting the academy’s commitment to developing young talent alongside adults. The coaching staff draws from a range of competitive and teaching backgrounds, ensuring that students benefit from current technical knowledge as well as long-term experience. Alongside Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, StudioX offers Muay Thai classes, broadening the training options for those interested in striking or cross-training. The academy welcomes visitors and drop-ins, and the facility is wheelchair accessible. StudioX’s longstanding presence and the depth of its coaching team continue to make it a fixture in Manhattan’s martial arts scene.
