Claim this gymEco Submission Grappling in Conway, Arkansas, is led by head coach Josh Root, a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt who has been training since 2011. Root invests heavily in his development as a coach, regularly consulting with top instructors worldwide and studying the science and philosophy behind training methods. His approach aims to serve grapplers across all levels by blending technical skill with a thoughtful coaching practice. The academy focuses on no-gi submission grappling and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu with an emphasis on self-defense, competition, and MMA preparation. Classes include gi-based fundamentals and grappling sessions for adults, alongside an MMA program that integrates striking and ground fighting. For younger students, Eco Submission Grappling offers gi classes divided into age groups, such as Tiny Goblins for 4-5 year olds and Little Goblins for ages 6-8. Open mat sessions are available for adult practitioners, providing space to drill and spar outside of structured classes. Drop-ins are permitted, allowing visitors to train without a long-term commitment. The school’s programming reflects a balance between traditional gi training and no-gi grappling, supporting a range of goals from sport competition to practical self-defense.
