DaVinci Jiu Jitsu in Tampa operates under the guidance of Professor David Manjarres, a black belt who earned his rank in 2022 after more than a decade of training and competing in grappling tournaments. His lineage traces back through Wrick Tomas and Eric Callueng to the Gracie family, reflecting a traditional Brazilian Jiu Jitsu heritage. Manjarres brings experience from training with notable grapplers and UFC fighters, and he spent seven years instructing at Gracie Wesley Chapel before opening DaVinci. The academy offers a structured curriculum that balances fundamentals with advanced techniques in both gi and no-gi formats. Adults can progress through beginner-level fundamentals classes to advanced gi and no-gi sessions, while children’s programs divide students by age groups, including Little Ninjas classes for ages 5 to 8 and no-gi classes for kids up to 13. The instruction emphasizes not only technical skill but also discipline, respect, and mental focus as integral parts of the learning process. Training schedules include open mat sessions that accommodate all levels and styles, providing space for students to drill, spar, or refine techniques outside of formal classes.
