Daruma Dojo

Daruma Dojo in Sunnyvale offers a steady schedule of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and judo for both kids and adults. The academy runs seven days a week at its South Murphy Avenue location, with programs designed to guide students from their very first class through more advanced training. While the school’s history and instructor backgrounds aren’t detailed here, the class lineup reflects an academy that puts time into both fundamentals and practical mat time. Kids’ classes are divided by age, starting as young as four. Juniors (4-6), youth (7-9), and teens (10-15) each have their own BJJ sessions, with extra options like the Honor Roll program in both gi and no-gi. Older kids and teens can also take part in judo starting at age seven. For adults, Daruma Dojo runs fundamentals, BJJ 101, all-levels sessions in both gi and no-gi, and a weekly competition training class. Fridays feature marathon rolling for those looking to push their conditioning and sparring. Open mats are a regular part of the weekly rhythm, including a public judo open mat on Sundays. The schedule is friendly to drop-ins, and there’s a clear effort to make training accessible across ages and experience levels. Whether students are looking to build basics, get ready for competition, or just get in extra rounds, the program structure keeps the mats busy every day.
