Carson City Jiu Jitsu

Carson City Jiu Jitsu is led by Riley Reynard, a brown belt with four stripes who trained extensively under Rafael Domingos in Las Vegas before returning to Michigan in 2022. Domingos, an IBJJF world champion black belt under UFC veteran Damian Maia, founded Team Domingos, to which Carson City Jiu Jitsu is affiliated. This connection shapes the academy’s approach, blending traditional Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu with a strong emphasis on submission grappling and wrestling fundamentals. The academy offers structured classes for both adults and youth, focusing on fundamentals and self-defense in gi classes, while no-gi sessions emphasize wrestling, takedowns, and submission grappling across skill levels. For students interested in competition, there is a weekly intensive no-gi competition class designed to sharpen strategy and technique under pressure. Youth programs integrate technical development with drills and games aimed at building self-confidence, discipline, and social skills through jiu-jitsu training. Training at Carson City Jiu Jitsu takes place at their accessible facility on E Carson City Road, with open mat sessions available for additional practice and sparring. The instructional staff includes purple belts Logan Powers and Dustin Dann, who assist in youth no-gi classes. While kickboxing is not currently offered, the academy’s core remains focused on cultivating solid grappling skills rooted in the Team Domingos lineage.
