Bueno Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

Bueno Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in Lubbock is led by Professor Douglas Bueno, a black belt from Santa Catarina, Brazil. Douglas began his BJJ journey in 1999 and earned his black belt from Professor Gustavo “Guto” Campos, maintaining a strong connection with the Atos Jiu Jitsu organization. Since moving to Lubbock in 2015, Douglas has focused on building a school that helps students grow both on and off the mats, whether they’re training for self-defense, fitness, or competition. The academy offers structured Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes for both adults and kids. Adults can train in both gi and no-gi formats, with mixed-level classes that welcome everyone interested in improving their skills. Kids’ classes are divided into two age groups—ages 4-7 and 8-12—giving younger students a chance to learn BJJ in an environment designed for their stage of development. Regular open mat sessions give students and visitors extra time for sparring, drilling, and refining techniques outside of formal classes. Bueno Jiu Jitsu is known for its hands-on teaching style and attention to individual progress. Drop-ins are welcome, making it a practical spot for travelers and local grapplers looking to cross-train. The facility is wheelchair accessible, and the program lineup reflects a focus on helping every student become their best, whether they’re new to martial arts or looking to deepen their experience in the Lubbock area.
