Bastos Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Fitness in Midland, Texas was founded by Bruno Bastos, a 5th Degree Black Belt whose career as a competitor and coach has shaped the academy’s direction from the start. After earning multiple international titles—including two IBJJF Master World Championships, five No-Gi World Championships, and major wins at the Pan Americans, European Open, and Brazilian Nationals—Bruno established the school to share the discipline, family values, and technical excellence that defined his own journey in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. The academy’s programs reflect Bruno’s belief that every student, from the youngest beginner to the advanced competitor, should receive championship-level instruction. Kids begin as young as three in the energetic Baby Sharks program, developing confidence and coordination. Older children (ages 7–13) progress through structured gi classes, with advanced and competition simulation sessions preparing them for both personal growth and tournament success. Adults can choose from fundamental, intermediate, and advanced classes in both gi and no-gi formats, with a dedicated competition team meeting regularly for focused training. Bastos BJJ also offers a women’s exclusive class and a homeschool-friendly session, making training accessible across a wide range of schedules. Classes run mornings, afternoons, and evenings six days a week, and the facility is wheelchair accessible. Bruno’s teaching philosophy centers on consistency, mutual support, and holding every student to a high technical standard—principles shaped by decades of experience on the world stage and a genuine investment in each person’s progress on and off the mat.
