Artisan Jiu Jitsu & Wrestling Club was founded by Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt Steve Aragon, whose decade-plus of martial arts experience anchors the academy’s approach. Steve is known for his technical knowledge and patient coaching style, drawing on a background that spans multiple martial arts. Alongside Coach Robert, a two-time Arizona State placer and collegiate wrestler, and Coach Frank, a decorated BJJ competitor and kids’ instructor, the team brings deep expertise and a focus on mentorship to every class. The academy offers a full schedule of gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for adults and kids, with classes designed to meet students at every stage of their journey. Youth and adult programs run separately, ensuring that children receive age-appropriate instruction that emphasizes discipline, technical development, and confidence on and off the mats. Wrestling is a core part of the curriculum as well, with Coach Robert leading youth wrestling sessions shaped by his years in Arizona’s wrestling community. This blend of traditional gi BJJ and wrestling provides students with a broad skill set, whether their goals are self-defense, competition, or personal growth. Artisan’s schedule includes morning and evening classes throughout the week, with drop-in training welcomed for those visiting from neighboring areas or seeking extra rounds. The academy is wheelchair accessible and aims to support families looking for a place where both kids and adults can train seriously.
