Ares BJJ Sanford was founded in 2018 by Professor Brad Morris, a first-degree black belt with more than two decades on the mats. Professor Morris has earned medals at major tournaments including Pan Am No-Gi (silver) and Pan Am Gi (bronze), and brings a mix of competitive experience and coaching skill to the Sanford, North Carolina academy. His vision for the school centers on family-oriented training and helping students of all backgrounds build discipline, confidence, and technical skill through Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. The academy offers a complete Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu program for both adults and kids, starting with Little Champs classes for children as young as three. Kids progress through age-appropriate groups, learning teamwork and social skills alongside their grappling fundamentals. For adults, there are regular gi and no-gi classes, as well as dedicated women’s sessions in both formats. Students interested in competition can join the Competition Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu program, which is built around advanced techniques and tournament preparation. Beyond BJJ, Ares BJJ Sanford includes MMA, wrestling, judo, and kickboxing on its schedule, providing students with a broad foundation in grappling and striking. Open mat and drilling sessions give members extra opportunities to refine their skills or roll at their own pace. The facility is wheelchair accessible, and drop-ins are welcome. As a member of the Sanford Chamber of Commerce, the academy maintains strong local ties and a clear commitment to making Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu accessible for families throughout the region.
