Aces Jiu Jitsu Club in Pflugerville was founded in 2013 by Professor Mikal Abdullah, a 3rd degree Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt under Professor Allen Mohler and a US Army veteran. Professor Abdullah built the school around a clear philosophy: teach the why and how of BJJ fundamentals, not just a list of techniques, and make the mats a place where anyone can build real skill safely. The academy’s method is based on a structured, year-long syllabus designed to develop practitioners from the ground up—whether they’re chasing competition results, fitness, or self-defense. Classes at Aces follow this system seven days a week, with BJJ Core/Fundamentals and Advanced BJJ for adults, plus open mat sessions for extra rounds or focused drilling. The kids’ program is divided into Lil Aces (ages 4+) and Junior Aces (ages 6+), with family classes that let parents train alongside their children. The Pflugerville location also offers Muay Thai, fitness kickboxing, women’s self-defense, and MMA, all taught by experienced coaches who emphasize technical progress and controlled training over ego. Lineage at Aces runs directly from Mitsuyo Maeda through the Alliance/Jacaré line to Professor Mohler and Professor Abdullah, grounding the instruction in a proven tradition. The academy’s reputation as a veteran-owned business is matched by its record in competition—its champions are developed in-house, not recruited, and everyone from beginners to advanced students follows the same method that has produced results across NAGA, IBJJF, and AGF events. Drop-ins are welcome, and the facility is wheelchair accessible.
