Claim this gymZero Point Gracie Jiu-Jitsu HQ in Brookvale is led by Chris “Bones” Burns, a third-degree black belt under Master Rickson Gracie. With over twenty years of experience, Chris is an official representative of Rickson Gracie United and a certified instructor for the Gracie family. The academy’s roots are firmly in authentic Gracie Jiu-Jitsu as taught by Rickson, with a clear focus on practical self-defence and efficient movement, rather than collecting techniques or relying on athleticism. Classes at Zero Point are structured around clear fundamentals and principle-based instruction. The program includes gi foundations, a dedicated no-gi day, and sport-focused competition classes. There is a strong emphasis on “invisible” jiu-jitsu—concepts like connection, weight distribution, and timing that underpin the art but are often overlooked. Self-defence training sits at the core of the curriculum, and the timetable also features unique sessions on body mechanics (“Body Wiring”) and practical weapons concepts, including Kali stick fighting. Every class is followed by supervised sparring or open mat, giving students the chance to pressure-test what they’ve learned in a controlled setting. Private lessons with Chris are available for those seeking focused, one-on-one development. While women currently train in all regular classes, dedicated women’s and kids’ classes are planned. The academy is open to newcomers, with a straightforward approach to gear and no lock-in contracts. White gis are required for hygiene reasons, but loaner uniforms are provided for trials.
