Wauriman Borges Brazilian Jiu Jitsu / BJJ is led by Professor Wauriman Borges, a 3rd degree black belt with over 24 years on the mats. Trained under Marco Nascimento—himself the first black belt of Clube de Jiu-Jitsu Pitbull—and tracing lineage back to Carlos Gracie Jr., Borges brings a blend of old school and modern Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to San Bruno. A two-time IBJJF Pan-American champion, he emphasizes self-discipline, fitness, and self-defense as the core pillars of his instruction, aiming to develop both the athlete and the person. Classes at the academy cover a broad age range, from kids as young as five through teens and adults. The curriculum follows a traditional gi focus, with separate classes for children, teenagers, adults, and a women’s gi class. Open mat sessions are regularly available, providing students opportunities to drill and spar beyond structured classes. The school’s approach is methodical, designed to guide practitioners progressively through fundamentals and more advanced techniques under Professor Borges’ direct supervision. Located at 356 El Camino Real, the facility is wheelchair accessible and maintains a clean, safe training environment.
