Victory Brazilian BJJ in Albany is built on a foundation of deep experience and personal commitment from its instructors. Owner and head instructor Bill Schwartz began his journey in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in 2003, earning his black belt from Julio Ceaser Fernandez Nunes in Rio de Janeiro in 2016. Bill’s teaching career stretches back to his days running after-school programs and coaching basketball for at-risk youth, and he carries that same inclusive, educational spirit into every class. The coaching team includes black belts Jeff Hart, Adrian Uribe, and Benji Anastasio—each with their own story of competition, international training, and a shared lineage through Victor McLeod and ties to Brazil. Their combined experience shapes a room where technique, adaptability, and long-term development are always at the forefront. The academy’s training schedule balances traditional gi and modern no-gi BJJ, with structured classes for adults and a dedicated youth program. Students can expect to find gi and no-gi sessions nearly every day, plus open mat times for extra rounds or focused drilling. For those interested in more than grappling, the schedule features striking and kickboxing, as well as wrestling classes for kids.
