Veneration Jiu Jitsu LLC in Jonesboro, Arkansas, is led by Professor Jason McClellan, a black belt who began training in 2008 under Brian Davis’s Gracie Barra affiliate in Arkansas. Jason earned his black belt in 2021 and received his first degree in 2024 while continuing to compete nationally, securing medals in IBJJF, AGF, Fuji, and NAGA tournaments. He opened the Jonesboro academy the same year, building on years of teaching experience that started in 2018. The school operates as an affiliate of Veneration Jiu-Jitsu from Kenosha, Wisconsin, under Professor Dave Rosenmarkle, who combines his background as a collegiate athlete, Iraq war veteran, entrepreneur, and competitor to guide students toward growth both on and off the mats. Classes at Veneration focus on Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu as a self-defense system, emphasizing technique over size and strength. The academy offers instruction for all levels, with a structured fundamentals program led by purple belt instructors and youth classes directed by experienced belts including purple and blue ranks. Adult students can participate in open mat sessions that welcome drop-ins, providing opportunities for additional sparring and drilling outside of scheduled classes. The facility is wheelchair accessible, reflecting practical accommodations for diverse practitioners. The school also supports community safety through its participation in Adopt A Cop BJJ, a nonprofit program that sponsors local law enforcement officers to train in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu until they reach blue belt.
