Veneration BJJ

Veneration BJJ Kenosha has been a fixture in the local Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu scene since 2008, founded by Professor Dave Rosenmarkle and Kelli Rosenmarkle. As the original location of the Veneration affiliation—which now includes academies across the country—this Kenosha school has established its roots with a focus on high-level instruction and character development. Veneration is an IBJJF accredited academy, and its coaching staff includes world-ranked competitors and instructors who have helped both kids and adults reach the podium at major competitions. The academy’s class structure is designed to support students of all ages and stages. Kids as young as four can start in Tots Jiu-Jitsu, progressing to Kids and Advanced Kids classes that emphasize not just technical growth, but sportsmanship and leadership. The youth program is especially known for producing Wisconsin and Illinois’ first Kids Pan Ams champions, a point of pride for the academy. Teens and adults benefit from a full schedule that includes both gi and no-gi training six days a week, with early morning, midday, and evening options. Women’s-only classes and sessions for veterans, active military, and first responders round out the offerings, reflecting the school’s emphasis on accessibility and community. Instruction at Veneration Kenosha is led by a team of certified coaches, including Professors Jameel Massouh, Rick Matthews, Brett Bohn, and Benjamin Kessel, each bringing their own expertise to the mat. Classes mix structured drilling with live sparring, and topics range from fundamental escapes to advanced transitions and competition preparation. The facility is wheelchair accessible, and drop-ins are welcome, making it easy for visitors or newcomers to get in a session. Whether students are pursuing competition, self-defense skills, or simply a challenging workout, the academy’s approach is rooted in the idea that jiu-jitsu is for everyone willing to put in the work.
