Van Buren Jiu Jitsu Chandler is led by Jonathan Van Buren, a 2nd degree black belt with a background in wrestling and more than eight years of teaching experience. Since opening in June 2020, the academy has focused on delivering high-level Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu instruction to the East Valley area of Arizona. Jonathan’s approach emphasizes modern techniques effective in both competition and self-defense, fostering growth for students who seek challenges on and off the mats. The academy offers a range of classes including gi and no-gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, boxing, grappling, and children’s martial arts. The curriculum is designed to develop practical skills through functional warmups, drilling, technique instruction, and live sparring. Private lessons are available across disciplines, allowing for personalized attention. Children’s classes aim to build confidence, discipline, and fitness, while adult programs accommodate a variety of fitness levels and experience. Training at Van Buren includes open mat sessions for adults, providing additional time for practice and rolling. The facility is wheelchair accessible and supports a family-oriented environment where multiple generations often train together. Located at 1020 E Pecos Rd Suite 14 in Chandler, the gym integrates boxing and self-defense with Jiu-Jitsu to create a comprehensive martial arts experience tailored to the needs of its students.
