Upper Level Jiu Jitsu & Boxing is led by Mike Voss, a black belt with over a decade of training experience who opened the academy in early 2024 in Hudson, Massachusetts. Mike’s journey began as a blue belt nearly ten years ago, and after years of instructing kids and refining his teaching approach, he realized his long-held goal of owning a school. Alongside Mike, Josh Lewis brings his expertise as the boxing coach, creating a blend of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and boxing under one roof. Together, they emphasize perseverance, hard work, and a training culture that challenges students to push their limits. The academy offers a structured curriculum that starts with fundamentals for adults new to BJJ, progressing through intermediate and advanced levels. Both gi and no-gi classes are available, reflecting a balanced approach to the sport that values the technical grip work of the gi alongside the speed and transitions found in no-gi. Women’s classes provide a dedicated space for female practitioners, while kids’ classes run separately, ensuring age-appropriate instruction. Boxing classes complement the grappling program, broadening students’ skill sets and conditioning. Students can take advantage of open mat sessions to drill techniques and spar beyond scheduled classes. Drop-in training is welcome, making the gym accessible to visitors and grapplers from nearby towns like Marlborough and Clinton. The facility is wheelchair accessible and located centrally on Main Street, offering a practical setting for those looking to combine BJJ and boxing training in a single, focused environment.
