Ultimate Combat Training Center

Ultimate Combat Training Center in Holladay offers a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu program led by Professor Gustavo Rodrigues, a 4th degree black belt whose journey began in Santos, Brazil under Master Elcio Figueiredo. Gustavo’s lineage traces directly through Carlos Gracie and Carlson Gracie, and he is known for his technical instruction and experience mentoring athletes at all levels, including world-class competitors. Since moving to Utah in 2007, Gustavo has established himself as a leading BJJ instructor, building a team recognized for its depth of knowledge and commitment to the art. Day-to-day instruction is supported by head coach Nenad “Ned” Shuput, an accomplished athlete with a background spanning collegiate sports, Muay Thai, kickboxing, and BJJ. Ned trained extensively under Gustavo and brings his own competitive experience to the mats, coaching everyone from local hobbyists to fighters on the professional circuit. The academy’s approach emphasizes technical progression, competition readiness, and personal growth, with a focus on solid fundamentals and advanced application. In addition to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, the schedule includes daily Muay Thai and MMA classes in the evenings, plus a dedicated wrestling program led by Division I wrestler and pro fighter Cole Shafer. Adult students can take part in open mat sessions and sparring, with drop-ins welcome. The training environment is designed for those serious about learning, whether their aim is competition or self-improvement.
