Tysons Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Haganah is led by Bill Grinnell, a 4th Degree Black Belt in both Gracie Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Haganah/F.I.G.H.T. Bill has over two decades of experience coaching students throughout Northern Virginia and is the only instructor in the country with black belts in both disciplines. His teaching focuses on building confidence, mental toughness, physical fitness, and technical skill. Before founding this academy, Bill served as Chief Instructor at several local gyms including Fighter’s Garage and Vienna Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. The academy offers a clear progression for adult students, starting with Foundations classes for those new to Gracie Jiu Jitsu and moving into advanced training for experienced practitioners. All classes are gi-based, reflecting the traditional approach of the Gracie lineage. Alongside BJJ, Tysons also teaches Haganah, a practical self-defense system emphasizing real-world scenarios. Private lessons are available for students seeking personalized instruction tailored to their goals. Located in the heart of Tysons Corner, the gym is accessible from multiple Northern Virginia and DC-area communities. The facility includes parking and is wheelchair accessible. Classes run throughout the week with options for early mornings, evenings, and weekends to accommodate different schedules. Bill encourages anyone interested to reach out directly for guidance on where to begin or to discuss seminars and private sessions.
