Tinguinha BJJ Academy in Yorba Linda is led by Professor Mauricio “Tinguinha” Mariano, a black belt since 1996 who has built a strong team of instructors and black belts over more than two decades. The academy emphasizes steady growth in both physical ability and mental discipline through Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, following a lineage that stresses the development of technique and personal progression. Many black belts have been promoted directly by Professor Mariano or through his students, continuing the Tinguinha legacy in Southern California. Classes at Tinguinha cover a wide range of skill levels and age groups. Adults can train in gi classes that range from beginner fundamentals to advanced techniques, while no-gi sessions are also available for those looking to expand their grappling skills without the traditional uniform.
