The Gauntlet Fight Academy

The Gauntlet Fight Academy began as a handful of mats in a ballet studio in West Ealing, with Neto Nunes coaching just three white belts a few evenings a week. Over a decade later, the academy has grown into a family-run fixture at Ealing Broadway, now boasting the largest mat space in West London. This journey from a humble start to a busy, established gym has always been driven by a commitment to local roots and the belief that martial arts can transform lives. The academy stands as part of the Checkmat Team and takes pride in producing not only national and international champions but also in building character and confidence through Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and other disciplines. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is at the core of the schedule, offering classes seven days a week for adults and children. Training options cover every stage and style: beginners’ fundamentals, intermediate progression, advanced sessions, and both gi and no-gi formats. There are dedicated competition training and sparring sessions, as well as open mats open to all teams. Kids’ BJJ is split into age groups, starting from as young as three with Pee Wee classes, and running through to teens’ grappling. Women’s only BJJ and self-defence sessions also feature regularly, ensuring space for everyone to train according to their needs. Beyond BJJ, the timetable includes Muay Thai (with beginner to advanced classes and a family session), boxing, wrestling for both adults and teens, MMA, and combat conditioning. The academy’s facilities include over 200sqm of mat space downstairs, a separate upstairs area for small groups and privates, and dedicated strength and conditioning zones—all included in membership. Drop-ins are welcomed across a wide range of classes, and it’s common to see several generations of the same family training together. The Gauntlet Fight Academy has become a genuine community hub for martial arts in West London, where professional coaches and passionate practitioners share the mats every day.
