About The Fighting Arts Academy

The Fighting Arts Academy in Highams Park, London, was founded by Darius Kumana and Marco Nigliazzo after more than two decades training together. Their aim was to create a genuinely inclusive combat sports gym—one they’d be proud to bring their own children to—where anyone, regardless of experience, gender or background, could train in a safe, ego-free environment. In 2025, the academy and its coaching team affiliated with Inglorious Grapplers under Professor Jude Samuel, one of the UK’s most respected BJJ black belts and a major figure in European grappling. This partnership brings together old-school fundamentals and modern technical innovation, reflecting the academy’s philosophy of honest, challenging martial arts without politics or cliques. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a core focus at TFAA, with a structured gi programme rooted in strong fundamentals and an adaptive curriculum. Both all-levels and dedicated fundamentals classes run for adults, alongside a thriving kids’ BJJ programme. For those interested in grappling without the kimono, there is a full no-gi curriculum and regular wrestling sessions, giving students a well-rounded approach to ground work and takedowns. Women’s-only BJJ classes are led by a female coach, offering a dedicated space for women who prefer it, while women are also encouraged to join the mixed sessions. The mat regularly sees a high standard of technical knowledge, with up to seven black belts sometimes on the floor at once, and live rolling is always purposeful and controlled. Striking is equally well-represented, with Muay Thai inspired by the technical Muay Femur style and coaching connections to champions such as Yoddecha Sityodtong and Samart Payakaroon. Adult Muay Thai classes are open to all levels, from absolute beginners to experienced fighters, and include both pad-work and Dutch-style partner drills. Sparring is available but always optional and kept playful to ensure safety and learning. There are also kids’ Muay Thai classes and dedicated sparring sessions for those preparing for competition. The timetable includes open mat sessions for BJJ and high-belt open mats for advanced practitioners. Housed in E4 Health & Fitness Club, the facility offers a large matted area, full boxing ring, changing rooms, showers, and a weights room, with classes running seven days a week and drop-ins welcome.
