Claim this gymThe Dojo in Brooklyn was founded by Professor Gabriel Marte, a first-degree Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt with more than 30 years of martial arts experience. Marte started training martial arts at 11, competed across multiple disciplines and eventually made jiu-jitsu the center of his teaching. The academy’s goal is straightforward: build a place where people can fall in love with martial arts and learn from coaches who remain deeply connected to their own disciplines. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is joined by no-gi submission grappling, Muay Thai, Olympic judo and collegiate-style wrestling. That mix is intentional. Students can develop their ground game through BJJ and no-gi, improve their takedowns through judo and wrestling, and add striking through Muay Thai. The coaching staff reflects that same depth, with specialists leading each area rather than treating every discipline as an extension of a single class. The Dojo serves the Bushwick and Ridgewood area with adult and kids jiu-jitsu programs, open mat and a broader martial arts schedule for people who want to train more than one style. Its identity comes from the instructors and the training culture more than from any single class on the calendar. For Brooklyn grapplers, it is a small academy with a serious commitment to technical martial arts and a strong sense of local community.
