1701 W Ben White Blvd, Austin, TX
The B-Team Jiu Jitsu in Austin is the original home of one of modern submission grappling’s most recognizable teams. B-Team was founded in Austin in 2021 by Craig Jones and Seth Belisle as a deliberately less rigid approach to elite grappling—serious about performance, but willing to treat personality, humor and media as part of the sport rather than stripping them away. Craig Jones remains the figure most closely associated with the team and also created the Craig Jones Invitational, which launched in 2024 with million-dollar division prizes. The academy’s identity is overwhelmingly no-gi and competition-oriented rather than traditional gi Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Its appeal comes from access to a team built around high-level professional grappling and the training culture that developed around B-Team’s Austin headquarters. The gym sits on West Ben White Boulevard in South Austin, close to South Congress and within easy reach of downtown and several of the city’s central neighborhoods. For experienced no-gi grapplers, competitors and visitors making Austin a training destination, B-Team is a fundamentally different proposition from a conventional family-oriented BJJ school. The draw is the chance to train inside a team that has helped shape the current professional grappling scene, with Craig Jones’s competitive and cultural influence woven directly into the academy’s identity.
