Tech Lab Jiu Jitsu

Tech Lab Jiu Jitsu is led by co-founders Lucas Crawford and Bruce Suzuki, both Brazilian black belts with competitive and instructional experience. Crawford earned his black belt in 2022 under Woolf Barnato and Danny Speirn and holds titles from IBJJF Pan American Championships, American Nationals, and European Championships. Suzuki received his black belt from Renan Silva and Ralph Gracie in 2021 and balances his coaching role with a career as a data recovery engineer. Cole Franson, a black belt under Mauricio Mariano since 2018 and a decorated competitor in IBJJF and UAEJJF events, teaches the academy’s no-gi adult classes. Located in Novato’s San Marin Plaza, Tech Lab operates on a philosophy that blends strong fundamentals with modern, competition-tested techniques. The academy emphasizes discipline, safety, and technical precision, maintaining a clean training environment with FUJI Subfloor SuperBlock mats for impact absorption. Classes are structured around technique, drilling, and live sparring, designed for all ages starting as young as five years old. Programs include beginner and advanced gi classes for kids, a parent-and-me class, and all-levels adult gi training. Student safety and individualized attention are priorities, with instructor assistants supporting each session. The schedule accommodates kids’ classes divided by age and skill, as well as adult classes that cover both gi and no-gi formats. Loaner gis are available for newcomers, and the facility is wheelchair accessible. Tech Lab Jiu Jitsu’s approach is rooted in creating a focused space where students develop confidence and real-world skills through consistent practice and respectful training.
