Team Mannon BJJ

Team Mannon BJJ is led by Tim Mannon, a fifth-degree black belt under Renzo Gracie who has dedicated more than 30 years to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Tim’s experience extends beyond the mats into professional mixed martial arts competition during the sport’s early days. Known for a pressure-based grappling style and deep technical knowledge, he has developed a strong regional lineage in Southwest Virginia while promoting fundamentals, practical application, and continuous improvement among students of all ages. The academy’s daily curriculum reflects Tim’s teaching philosophy with a structured progression from beginner to advanced levels in gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Classes meet throughout the week, including early morning sessions and open mat periods for both gi and no-gi training. Instruction also covers submission grappling and incorporates a dedicated kids’ program separated into beginner and advanced groups. The presence of multiple black belt instructors supports a variety of class options and personalized coaching opportunities. Beyond traditional BJJ, Team Mannon offers striking and MMA fundamentals under Clay Surratt, integrating Muay Thai techniques and sparring to complement grappling skills.
