Superhero Jiu Jitsu Academy was founded in 2014 by Mike DeWitt Jr. to offer a training space where growth and transformation take priority over trophies. Mike’s approach is rooted in the belief that martial arts should foster skill, grit, and accountability—on and off the mats. He leads with deep technical knowledge and a competitor’s mindset, shaped by his experience as a third-degree black belt under Eddie Bravo and as the highest-ranking black belt in the 10th Planet system in the Pacific Northwest. Mike’s competition background spans ADCC Trials, IBJJF black belt divisions, Submission Underground, Gracie Nationals and Worlds, and a list of national and local titles. Classes at Superhero Jiu Jitsu Academy are built around No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu, wrestling, striking, and MMA, with a strong emphasis on practical application and creative problem-solving. The academy runs a full weekly schedule with morning, midday, and evening sessions to fit diverse routines. Programs include No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu at all levels, advanced competition classes, wrestling for adults, Muay Thai and kickboxing, and MMA. Kids ages 4–10 and teens 11–16 have dedicated classes, and open mats are held regularly for adults. The coaching team features black and brown belt instructors who guide students through structured, pressure-tested training. Superhero Jiu Jitsu Academy serves as an affiliate of the We Defy Foundation, supporting combat veterans through Jiu-Jitsu, and partners with C4C Police Jiu-Jitsu to deliver defensive tactics and control training for law enforcement. The facility includes 2,000 square feet of Zebra mats across two rooms, strength and cardio equipment, on-site parking, a kids area, and wheelchair accessibility. This academy is Lane County’s longest-running accredited school in its lineage, offering a place for students of all backgrounds to develop real skills and lasting confidence.
