Stockton JiuJitsu Academy is led by Rich Flores, a black belt with over a decade of experience in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, as well as a background in high school and college wrestling and a blue belt in Judo. Rich has competed extensively, collecting medals from IBJJF, Pan Ams, and other tournaments. His approach to teaching focuses on making jiu-jitsu accessible and enjoyable for people of all ages, sizes, and skill levels, emphasizing the art’s practical and personal benefits rather than just competition. At Stockton, classes cover a full spectrum from fundamentals to all-levels training in both gi and no-gi formats. The schedule includes early-morning sessions, open mats, and dedicated kids’ classes such as Tiny Tappers for ages 3 to 5, youth wrestling, and kids’ competition training. There are also women’s only gi classes and boxing sessions led by Pete Godina, adding striking and fitness elements to the curriculum. Private lessons and multiple mat spaces allow for focused instruction and flexible training options. The academy supports a steady progression through the ranks with fundamentals classes and open mats that require white belts to be cleared before attending, ensuring that beginners build a solid base. The facility’s location on Grand Canal Boulevard offers a convenient spot for families and individuals in Stockton to train consistently. Stockton JiuJitsu Academy’s programs reflect a balanced mix of traditional jiu-jitsu techniques alongside wrestling and striking, all under the guidance of instructors committed to teaching the art with respect and clarity.
