Coach Fileccia is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt, undefeated Muay Thai kickboxing champion, and New Jersey State MMA titleholder, with a background that includes decades of competition and public service as a Captain in the FDNY. Professor Bittencourt brings more than 30 years of experience from Brazil, where he trained under Ricardo de la Riva and at the Chute Boxing Gym, later serving as lead instructor for the Brazilian National Police Force and earning two European BJJ championships. The academy’s programs reflect the breadth of its instructors’ backgrounds. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu forms the core, with gi and no-gi classes for adults, teens, and children, plus a fundamentals class for beginners. Students can also train in Muay Thai kickboxing, boxing, wrestling, judo, and MMA, with dedicated sessions for teens and age-appropriate kids classes throughout the week. Open mats and competition-focused boxing classes provide further opportunities to sharpen skills, and the schedule includes both early and late options to accommodate different routines. With classes running seven days a week at 1230 Castleton Avenue, Staten Island Brazilian BJJ/MMA supports students working toward practical self-defense, fitness, and competition. The school’s approach is shaped by its instructors’ commitment to discipline and real-world readiness, and its long-standing presence on Staten Island is evident in its family-style atmosphere and dedication to the local community.
