Stars Gym Battersea opened its doors in April 2011, founded by five fitness enthusiasts determined to create a training space in London that combined combat sports with a full gym offering. Located at the Albion Riverside Building near Battersea Park, the gym was originally centred around Muay Thai, but quickly broadened its focus to include boxing, kickboxing, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. The founding aim was always to build a facility where members of all backgrounds could train seriously and feel genuinely supported, without the pressure or posing sometimes found in city gyms. Today, Stars Gym Battersea remains independently owned and operated by its original founders and new partners. The gym offers a wide mix of combat sports classes alongside strength and conditioning, with Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu now a regular fixture on the timetable. Members can also access a comprehensive personal training programme, with options for one-to-one, small group, and remote coaching. Instructors include experienced coaches from various disciplines, such as UK boxing champion and HYROX athlete Vlad Matei, MMA specialist Mike Ekundayo, and coaches specialising in women's strength, glute building, and self-defence. The weekly schedule is built around early morning to late evening hours during the week, and daytime sessions at weekends, making training accessible for those with busy lives. Private coaching is available for both individuals and pairs, and members can tailor their training with flexible PT plans or a structured three-month programme. The gym’s approach has always been to pay above industry standards to attract and retain top coaches, ensuring members are guided by professionals who see fitness as a real career. This commitment to quality instruction and a broad combat sports offering has made Stars Gym Battersea a long-standing fixture in the local scene.
