20250 S Woodland Rd, Spring Hill, KS
Spring Hill Jiu Jitsu was founded out of a desire to create a truly family-friendly training environment for Spring Hill and the surrounding Southern Johnson County area. The academy’s roots run deep—head coach Christian Hidalgo began his martial arts journey as a child, following in the footsteps of his father, a lifelong black belt in Judo, Tae Kwon Do, and Japanese Jiu Jitsu. Christian earned his own Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt under Felipe “Ninja” Pinto in 2019 and has since coached students of all ages to success on the competition podium. The academy’s teaching team reflects both experience and dedication. Christian leads the adult program, bringing technical precision and a passion for developing resilient students. Emily Coleman, one of the first ten women to earn a black belt in the Kansas City area, oversees the kids’ and gi fundamentals classes, while Angelo Hidalgo, a 5th dan Judo black belt, brings additional expertise to the youth judo curriculum. Assistant instructors round out the staff, helping to guide both beginners and seasoned practitioners through structured, progressive classes. Students at Spring Hill Jiu Jitsu train primarily in the gi, with fundamentals classes and kids’ programs forming the core of the schedule. The curriculum emphasizes safe, effective technique and personal development—whether the goal is practical self-defense, competition, or fitness. The academy also offers early-morning sessions and regular open mats, and welcomes visitors interested in trying a class. With a focus on voluntary participation and mutual respect, the school prioritizes a positive training environment for individuals and families alike.
