Solidarity MMA • BJJ • Kickboxing Academy in Frisco is led by Justin Farwell, a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt under Rafael “Formiga” Barbosa, with over 100 career wins and an undefeated amateur MMA record. Justin founded the academy to bring together his experience from competition and his faith, focusing on building discipline and character as much as skill. The team also includes Alex Ajoleza, a black belt with more than 27 years across judo, BJJ, sambo, and military combatives, and Oscar Perez, who coaches kickboxing and no-gi jiu-jitsu. The coaching staff is hands-on, drawing from real competition and practical backgrounds, and they work closely with students of all ages. The academy’s programs run from early childhood to adults, with class tracks designed for each stage. Children as young as three can start in “Littles” classes, learning both gi and no-gi jiu-jitsu and kickboxing in a structured but playful setting. Kids ages 6–12 move into a full schedule that includes gi and no-gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, kickboxing, and even MMA, with a dedicated competition class for those interested. Teens and adults have separate sessions for gi and no-gi jiu-jitsu, kickboxing, MMA, and open mat, with classes offered throughout the week in both the mornings and evenings. Solidarity MMA puts a strong emphasis on practical self-defense, fitness, and competition, but the focus always comes back to character and respect on the mats. The academy’s lineage traces from Carlson Gracie through Ricardo de La Riva and Rafael “Formiga” Barbosa, while the judo and sambo experience adds another layer for students who want a wider grappling education. Drop-ins are welcome, and the academy maintains a no-ego policy, inviting anyone who wants to learn and grow, regardless of experience level.
