Slow Roll Brazilian Jiu Jitsu was started by two friends, Travis Israel and Zach Forrester, who wanted something more from martial arts than what they saw in most gyms. Building the academy in Clarksville, they set out to create a place where family, values, and the local community came first—a school their own kids would want to train at. From day one, the goal has been to keep things down-to-earth, with no egos and no gimmicks, just real training and people who look out for each other. Classes at Slow Roll reflect that vision. Most are taught by Coach Travis, who brings years of experience and a straightforward approach to both kids and adults. Zach handles the fundamentals classes and leads unique sessions like Ten Round Tuesdays. The teaching style is rooted in the ecological approach, which means students learn through live movement, problem-solving, and training games—rather than memorizing step-by-step routines. This method keeps classes engaging for beginners and advanced students alike, with guidance that adapts to each person’s body and learning style. The schedule covers a full range of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu programs, including adult gi fundamentals, advanced classes, no-gi sessions, open mats, and a dedicated homeschool BJJ class. Kids’ programs focus on real technique, discipline, and confidence, with additional competition classes for those looking to test themselves. The facility is modern and clean, equipped with Fuji wall mats and pads, and welcomes drop-ins for most sessions. Slow Roll is a place where families train together, students push themselves, and everyone leaves a little better than they arrived.
