Silver Fox BJJ in Saddle Brook, NJ is led by Karel “Silver Fox” Pravec, a 5th degree Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt and one of Renzo Gracie’s earliest American students. Pravec’s journey in martial arts began with Tae Kwon Do before he became captivated by BJJ in the early 1990s, training directly under Renzo after the art reached the New York/New Jersey area. He earned his black belt in 2006, the same year he opened the academy, and has since become known for his technical teaching style, focus on submissions, and hands-on approach with students. Pravec’s reputation extends internationally through seminars, instructional books, and collaborations with coaches like Firas Zahabi, but his day-to-day commitment remains with the students on his home mats. The academy is a Renzo Gracie Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu affiliate, with instruction rooted in the techniques and philosophy Pravec developed alongside some of the sport’s most respected names. Silver Fox BJJ offers classes for all ages and skill levels, including a dedicated kids’ Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu program that emphasizes coordination, focus, and lifelong self-defense skills.
