Sidewinder Jiu Jitsu Headquarters - Martial Arts, Combatives & Tactical Training was established in the summer of 2018 by Professor Coy Clements in downtown Whitewright, Texas. Professor Clements founded the academy with a clear vision: to offer high-level Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu instruction rooted in faith, family, and the tradition of making jiu-jitsu accessible to entire families, not just individuals. Drawing on his deep knowledge of both the art and the business of BJJ, he set out to create a school where fellowship and affordability go hand-in-hand. Classes at Sidewinder focus on the core elements of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for both children and adults. The curriculum follows the IBJJF belt system, and instruction is structured to support students at every stage of learning, from fundamentals to advanced skills. Family participation is a central value—Sidewinder was built to welcome groups who want to train together, as well as individuals looking for a meaningful challenge. The academy also offers open mat sessions for adults, where students can practice freely and refine their techniques. In addition to regular classes, Sidewinder Jiu Jitsu provides resources for students unable to attend in person, including access to the Sidewinder Academy’s online content. The facility is wheelchair accessible, reflecting the school’s open-door approach. With programs that also support law enforcement and a focus on serving the local community, Sidewinder continues to grow as a place where the blessings of jiu-jitsu are shared widely and intentionally.
