Sanctify Jiu Jitsu Academy

Sanctify Jiu Jitsu Academy was founded by Professors Nick and Vivian Barrett with a clear vision: to build a place where the life-changing benefits of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu could be shared with students of all ages in Lakeland, Florida. Both Nick and Vivian earned their black belts under Professor Mike Buckels, a 4th degree black belt, after over 14 years each on the mats. Nick’s dream of opening an academy began when he was just 14, and together with Vivian—herself an IBJJF World Champion and decorated competitor—they have worked to create an environment focused on personal growth, discipline, and practical skill. Classes at Sanctify cover a broad age range, starting with the NextGen program for children as young as four, and moving through Kids, Juniors, and dedicated women’s classes. The academy offers both gi and no-gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, with fundamentals and advanced classes for adults led by Professor Nick. Professor Vivian leads the women’s and junior no-gi classes, bringing her competition experience and background in wrestling and kickboxing to the mat. The schedule is structured to support everyone from absolute beginners to advanced students, with a special emphasis on building confidence and technical ability in a safe, friendly setting. Sanctify’s programs are designed not just for those interested in competition, but also for families and individuals seeking fitness, self-defense, and a strong sense of belonging. Drop-ins are welcome, and the facility is wheelchair accessible. Nick and Vivian’s shared commitment to teaching is evident in the personalized attention given to each student, drawing from their years of coaching, competing, and building a Jiu-Jitsu community from the ground up.
