Ruislip BJJ

Ruislip BJJ was founded by black belts Raj Singh and Wiktor Herka, both under the tutelage of Rodger Middleton from the Roger Gracie Academy. Wiktor brings additional experience from karate, combat jiu-jitsu and judo, while Raj complements his BJJ with mixed martial arts training under the Sekhon Brothers at Beast Fight Team. Both are active competitors with a solid track record: Wiktor recently medalled in the heavy weight division and won the absolute at the HBJJ Invitational, while Raj has claimed gold at events including NAGA London, the British IBJJF Nationals, and the English Open. Originating in South Ruislip’s Runway House, the academy moved to larger facilities at McGovern Park in 2021 to accommodate growth and enhance the training environment. Training at Ruislip BJJ covers both gi and no-gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, with an emphasis on fundamentals for beginners alongside ongoing development for more advanced students. The curriculum integrates judo fundamentals to enrich grappling skills, and there are dedicated no-gi sessions to complement the traditional gi classes. Alongside BJJ, the academy offers striking classes in kickboxing and MMA techniques, taught by coaches with competitive fight records. Children’s classes cater to various age groups starting from six years old, focusing on self-defence and building confidence in a safe setting. Open mat sessions on Sundays provide additional opportunities for practice and sparring. The gym is based at McGovern Park in South Ruislip, featuring a large matted training area that meets UKBJJA standards. Facilities include modern showers and a social space with TVs, pool and snooker tables, creating a place to unwind after training. Classes run six days a week, with separate sessions for kids, beginners, and open mat time, ensuring a structured yet flexible schedule. Drop-ins are welcome, making it accessible for visitors and those new to the sport. Ruislip BJJ’s approach balances competitive ambition with community and personal development in the Greater London area.
