Route 66 Jiu Jitsu

Route 66 Jiu Jitsu serves Williams, Arizona under the leadership of Professor Larry Diehl, a first degree Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt under Professor Jay Pages. After a career in the Air Force and as a technical instructor for the Department of Defense, Larry returned to Arizona and eventually settled in Williams with his family. Noticing a lack of youth activities in the area, he came out of retirement to open the academy, bringing a lifetime of martial arts experience and a passion for helping students grow both on and off the mats. At Route 66 Jiu Jitsu, classes are rooted in traditional gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, with a strong emphasis on fundamentals and personal growth. Larry’s coaching style is direct and methodical, focusing on drilling with intent and building confidence in every student, regardless of age or fitness level. The schedule offers programs for kids starting as young as four, teens, and adults, including dedicated fundamentals and all-levels classes. Young children begin with the Buckaroo program when there is enough interest, while teens and adults can join structured classes designed for both beginners and advanced practitioners. The academy also offers a competition class for those interested in testing themselves at tournaments, and Muay Thai for adults seeking striking skills alongside grappling. The academy maintains traditions such as bowing in and out of the mat area and encourages students to respect both the art and their training partners. With a wheelchair-accessible facility and a willingness to welcome drop-ins, Route 66 Jiu Jitsu is committed to making high-quality martial arts instruction accessible to the Williams community.
