Rollyson Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in Hollywood, Florida, is shaped by Master Carlos Rollyson’s belief that authentic Jiu Jitsu comes directly from its roots. Master Rollyson began training under Grandmaster Carlson Gracie Sr. as a child in Teresópolis, Brazil, and earned his black belt from Carlson himself in 1982. With over forty years on the mat and one of only six 8th-degree red-and-white coral belts in the United States, he brings a direct lineage and a lifetime of experience to every class. Since opening the academy in 2007 with Megan Rollyson, his aim has been to share real Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu with students of all backgrounds, guided by a tradition that values discipline, practical skill, and personal growth. Training at Rollyson BJJ is structured to meet students where they are, whether they are new to the art or preparing for competition. The schedule balances gi and no-gi classes for adults, with fundamentals and all-levels sessions providing a clear path for beginners to build a foundation and for more advanced students to refine their techniques. Dedicated intermediate and advanced classes focus on sport and competition aspects of Jiu Jitsu, while no-gi offerings and a Friday open mat let students test themselves in faster-paced rounds. The academy also includes a fitness program—Eagle Fitness—with HIIT circuits, striking, and weightlifting, led by black belt coach Richard Hernandez, to support conditioning and athletic development alongside grappling skills. Kids ages 5–12 have their own Young Warriors program, with classes grouped by age and experience to foster confidence and self-defense skills in a safe environment. Teens join adults in the main BJJ classes, while striking and no-gi options give younger students a broader base. Megan Rollyson, the academy’s co-founder and first female black belt under Master Rollyson, is a regular instructor, contributing to a teaching team that keeps the lineage personal and hands-on.
