Rockingham BJJ Academy | The Lighthouse was established in Waikiki with a clear purpose: to guide individuals and families through Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu as a path for personal growth, confidence and connection. Head coach Marcel Leteri, a 4th degree black belt with over 25 years’ experience, leads the academy alongside Laura Tang Leteri, a black belt and graduate in Exercise & Sport Science. Marcel’s journey began in São Paulo, Brazil, and has taken him across Brazil, Europe and Australia as a competitor, coach and referee. His philosophy centres on patient guidance and steady progress, making Jiu-Jitsu accessible for all ages and backgrounds. The academy’s programs reflect its family-first approach and broad technical base. Classes are structured for every stage, starting with BJJ Family Fusion (ages 2+), Little Kids (3–6), Kids (6–12), Teens (12–16), and Girls Power (7–15). Adult training is offered in both fundamentals and all-levels groups, with additional sessions in women-only BJJ and no-gi fundamentals. For those seeking more tailored development, private lessons are available. Laura Tang Leteri leads the kids’ programs, bringing a structured, encouraging style that helps children build not just technical skill but also self-belief. Rockingham BJJ Academy is based in a purpose-built space within the Stargate Waikiki Shopping Centre, making it easily accessible for local families and providing plenty of free parking. The facility is designed for comfort, safety and inclusivity, so students can focus on learning and growth. Visitors are welcome to observe classes, and the academy places strong emphasis on respect, safety and community throughout its programs.
