Rising Tide Hi Tech Martial Arts in Hanover has one of the deeper senior-instructor lineups in the region. The academy is co-owned and led by black belts Naqi Sayed, Anton Garcia and Ted Hartman, while senior instructor Toney is a sixth-degree Relson Gracie black belt. Other coaches include Pedro Sauer black belt Mike Johnson, a 25-year law-enforcement veteran, and women’s-program leader Tori, who holds a black belt directly from Relson Gracie. The current program includes gi and no-gi jiu jitsu, fundamentals, kids and women’s classes, judo, MMA, Muay Thai, boxing and open mat. The staff’s backgrounds add practical depth: military service, Army combatives, law enforcement and experience coaching professional UFC and Bellator fighters are all represented across the team. For martial artists around Hanover, Columbia and Glen Burnie, Rising Tide is particularly relevant if they want traditional Gracie lineage without limiting themselves to one style of training. The concentration of senior black belts and the dedicated women’s leadership make the academy far more specific than a generic multi-discipline school.
