Rise Combat Sports - Tucson

Rise Combat Sports in Tucson is owned and led by Chris Cariaso, a veteran of the UFC, WEC, Strikeforce and EliteXC who fought for the UFC flyweight world championship in 2014. After retiring from competition, Cariaso shifted his focus to coaching and developing the next generation of athletes. The BJJ program is led by black belt Daniel Grippaudo, with additional coaching from active competitors and experienced grapplers on the Rise staff. Adults can train gi and no-gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at multiple levels, from introductory classes to advanced sessions, with open mat and sparring also built into the week. Wrestling is taught separately, giving grapplers a dedicated place to improve takedowns, while Muay Thai and strength and conditioning support students who want broader combat-sports training. The schedule also includes youth no-gi BJJ and youth Muay Thai. Rise has the feel of a true fight gym without making that experience inaccessible to people who are new to jiu-jitsu. Beginners have defined entry points, experienced students can train at a higher intensity, and competitors are coached by people with firsthand experience in high-level MMA and BJJ.
