Ricardo Almeida Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Academy is led by Professor Ricardo Almeida, a 6th Degree Black Belt and one of Renzo Gracie’s highest ranked students. Professor Almeida’s journey began in 1997 when he moved from Brazil to New Jersey to assist at the Renzo Gracie Academy. His background includes multiple national Brazilian titles, No-Gi World and Pan Am championships, and a distinguished MMA career with organizations like UFC and Pride FC. The academy’s teaching philosophy centers on developing strong fundamentals through structured classes that combine calisthenics-style warm-ups, technical instruction, and live drilling. This approach ensures students build both physical conditioning and technical proficiency in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Classes at the academy accommodate a range of ages and skill levels, with fundamentals classes designed to introduce beginners to the art. The school offers programs for kids and juniors, alongside adult classes that cover gi and no-gi training.
