Renzo Gracie Taylor - Concept BJJ

Renzo Gracie Taylor - Concept BJJ is anchored in the Team Renzo Gracie lineage and located at 310 N Main Street in downtown Taylor, Texas. The academy’s roots extend through a network of instructors led by Eric Fried, who earned his black belt in 2018 under Mario Esfiha and later aligned with Team Renzo Gracie in 2021. Fried’s journey began in Austin in 2010 and reflects a thoughtful, technical approach to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, emphasizing precision and strategy over aggression. Though Fried stepped back from regular teaching in late 2024, he remains connected to the academy and its evolving instruction. Classes at Concept BJJ cover a broad spectrum of training formats. Adults can engage in both gi and no-gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, with fundamentals classes designed to build a solid base and open mat sessions that encourage exploration and sparring. The academy also offers youth programs for kids aged 4 to 14, including no-gi sessions and home school classes, structured to develop skills progressively. Beyond BJJ, the schedule includes striking and MMA classes, reflecting a willingness to blend disciplines while maintaining BJJ as the core focus. The gym’s philosophy mirrors its head instructor’s preference for a cerebral and methodical style, favoring positional control like side control and knee-on-belly and specializing in collar chokes. Students will find an environment that supports technical growth and playful experimentation rather than a competitive or high-pressure atmosphere. The facility is wheelchair accessible, and drop-in visitors are accepted, making it accessible for those exploring Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in the Taylor area.
